I’ll share my own experience to kick things off – I’ve tried posting a few photography edits on the official TikTok, and honestly, the reach is way bigger than what I get on Instagram. The downside is, the short format makes it hard to show full stories or detailed portfolios. Still, quick tips/behind-the-scenes seem to get more engagement than just finished shots.
I also came across something called TikTok 18+ / TikTok 18 from ProTikTok18 — sometimes it’s an official setting (where you can restrict content so only users 18+ see it), but often it appears in modified APKs or third-party versions that claim to allow more mature content.
The official 18+ features can help if your art is more experimental or has “edgy” themes, by giving you a way to share without getting immediately flagged. But the unofficial versions seem risky — privacy, security, and visibility are big concerns. I’d love to hear: has anyone used the “18+ content” features officially, or even tried those mods? Did it help you share art more freely, or did it introduce new problems?
