Photography can capture much more than people and scenery; streets, buses, roads, signs, and everyday transportation can also tell interesting stories about how a city changes over time. I especially enjoy photos where vehicles become part of the wider composition rather than being the only subject.
Public transport and road scenes also provide opportunities to experiment with timing, perspective, reflections, movement, and natural light. A familiar street can look completely different when photographed during a busy commute, after rain, or at sunset.
I recently became interested in how transportation is also becoming more digital, with systems such as the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) helping organize transportation-related services and records. It made me wonder whether anyone here has photographed the visual side of these changes—new vehicle designs, road infrastructure, traffic signs, terminals, or other signs of modern transportation.
For those who enjoy street or documentary photography, what transportation-related subjects do you find most interesting to photograph, and what camera settings or techniques work best for capturing moving vehicles?
