My wife's 2015 Mini Cooper Countryman just hit 80,000 kilometers and the CVT transmission is making a terrible whining noise that gets louder with speed. No shuddering yet, just noise. I took it to a Mini specialist in Dubai and they said the CVT is "on its way out" and quoted me 18,000 dirhams for a replacement. That's almost what the car is worth. I'm not ready to scrap it because the car is otherwise in great shape. I've been asking around and some people say these CVTs can sometimes be rebuilt if you catch them early, but you need a shop that really knows these units. I've been looking for a professional gearbox service sharjah that has experience with the Jatco CVTs used in Minis and Nissans. Has anyone here actually had a Mini CVT rebuilt in Sharjah? If so, how much did it cost and how long did it last? I'm trying to decide if it's worth attempting a rebuild or if I should just sell the car as is and cut my losses. The whining is getting worse week by week so I need to make a decision soon. Any advice from Mini owners who've been through CVT hell would be seriously appreciated. Thanks in advance.
